I'm off to see Dinosaur Jr............

My lack of preparedness has left me no time to do a real post tonight. I'm off to see Lou, J. & Murph and I promise there'll be some fun stuff posted tomorrow...if I don't get vertigo from a busted ear drum or anything. I heard their shows are quite loud. Hooray.

CORNDOG-O-RAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, what do I like more than putting copious amounts of mustard on my corndog? Listening to copious amounts of great bands while wiping said mustard off of my lips. That must mean it's time for CORNDOG-O-RAMA!!!! Most indie-music lovin' Atlanta/Athens residents are well versed in the ways of Corndog-o-rama, but things have changed slightly folks. Corndog-o-rama will be held at Lenny's Bar instead of The Earl this year. Why the change? Not sure. I AM sure that a copious amount (my word-o-the-day) of corndog-lovin' hipsters will be quite irritated. Hopefully this next bit of news will sooth those hipsters' dispositions. Fuckin' Mastodon will be playing the last night!!!! Yes, in addition to the...copious amount...of amazing local/national acts such as Snowden, The Selmanaires, The Winter Sounds, The Life and Times, The Hiss, The Coathangers, Silver Lakes, Fiend Without a Face & many, many more...fuckin' Mastodon will be rocking your face off!! I love summertime.

CORNDOG-O-RAMA
July 12-15 @ Lenny's Bar
3 stages (Main, Side and Outdoor)
$35 for 4 day pass

Checkout the official Corndog-o-rama website for the full schedule. Buy your tickets here. Get directions to Lenny's here.

10th Annual Team Clermont SUMMER FESTIVAL & BLUE RIBBON BALL

Are you ready for three fun-filled, beer-swilling days of bands, kickball & and more...uh, beer? 'Cuz Team Clermont (an Athens, GA-based Music PR firm) is putting on it's 10th Annual Summer Festival & Blue Ribbon Ball this July 25-28 in Athens, GA. I don't think I could explain it better than they can, so......"The Summer Festival celebration is a music event that showcases artists on Team Clermont's client roster as well as other favorites, both national and local, over the course of three nights. The last night of the festival, The Blue Ribbon Ball, is affectionately known as "The Prom," and typically includes a featured artist doing cover songs and originals in the manner of the proverbial, slightly cheesy "prom band." This year's "prom band" will be none other than Chicago glam-rock raconteur Bobby Conn! Sprinkle into the mix a Kickball Tournament, copious amounts of Pabst Blue Ribbon, and a pre-Prom preparatory Happy Hour, and you have a recipe for good (and possibly blurry) festivities!"

Here's the line up:
Wed. 7/25 @ The 40 Watt
Starlight Mints, Ladybug Transistor, Tin Cup Prophette, Summer Hymns

Thu. 7/26 @ Caledonia Longe
Deerhunter, Bottom of the Hudson, Ham1, King of Prussia

Fri. 7/27 @ The 40 Watt
Castanets & Phosphorescent (playing together), A Northern Chorus, Arizona

Sat. 7/28 @ Bishop Park (Kickball Game)
Calvin Johnson

Sat. 7/28 @ Go! Bar
Benjy Ferree, Abra Moore

Sat. 7/28 @ The 40 Watt (The Blue Ribbon Ball)
Bobby Conn, DJ Twin Powers (Dan Geller from I Am The World Trade Center & Ruby Isle)

Deerhunter will open two dates for Smashing Pumpkins. Wait? What?

Yes, it's true. Beloved local mind-blowers, Deerhunter are scheduled to open two of the nine Smashing Pumpkins residency shows at N. Carolina's The Orange Peel. The NC residency Pumpkins' shows start this Saturday 6/23 & end Thursday 7/05...Deerhunter will be the openers for the 6/29 & 6/30 dates. I'm not sure if this was initiated by Deerhunter or the Pumpkins but either way there will no doubt be some very confused SP fans. Or maybe some very happy ones. Ah, who knows. I'm still really confused myself.
