GREAT NEW MUSIC: Manchester Orchestra "I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child"

I've just been introduced to one of my new favorite bands, Manchester Orchestra. Their fantastic debut, "I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child" has been in some heavy rotation over the past week. Musically speaking, "I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child" is all over the place (from all-out rockers to quiet & fragile acoustic numbers), but the disjointedness reflects a bumpy roadmap of emotions where the common thread between them is the brutally honest way they are portrayed. It's a part of what sets this album apart from so many: a visceral & scathing honesty. With some songs I cringe a little, because I feel like I'm invading someone's private journal. But even if it is just a collection of fictional stories, the fantastic way they're told comes across instead as personal recollection. That being said, I have to say that this is one mature album. Yes, it's true they have an average age of 19, but this is a mature album for someone of any age. And of course with this being their debut album, we can all look forward to what they have in store for us with next one. This album is highly recommended!

I kinda feel bad about it, but I'm not a fan of this record. I really like their older EP though.
