There was a little scare yesterday concerning whether or not Caribou were going to cancel some shows on their current tour (including the Athens date) due to an injury suffered by their drummer on 3/30...well worry no more, Caribou has found a replacement drummer and the shows are still on! This would've been a serious bummer, since I've been anxiously awaiting this show for months now. Plans were made, people are involved (I'm pretty sure that some of them are prone to crying ;) ), but now it's back on and I AM EXCITED! This is sure to be one hell of a show, I strongly suggest you scrape up 12 bucks and hit this up.

CONTEST / GIVEAWAY: 2 Tickets - Fuck Buttons, Caribou @ The 40 Watt Club, 4/02
To help promote the upcoming (and bad-ass BTW) debut full length from Fuck Buttons, "Street Horrrsing"(which comes out 3/18 via ATP Recordings), ICTH will be giving away a pair of tickets to see the Fuck Buttons, Caribou show at The 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA on 4/02/08. Just email itcoversthehillsides (at) gmail dot com with your full name and FUCK BUTTONS GIVEAWAY as the subject and that's it. I'll try to pick a winner by the end of next week.
I can only describe the material contained on "Street Horrrsing" as electronic/psyche/noise/drone/spazz/fun. It is not for your grandmother. It IS however, for fans of Jesu/Ministry/Animal Collective/Mogwai (which I am). Wrap your head around the extremely alluring track "Bright Tomorrow" streaming below.

Caribou signs to Merge Records, new album in August.
Caribou (formerly Manitoba) has officially signed to Merge Records, home of Spoon, Neutral Milk Hotel, Arcade Fire, M. Ward, Destroyer, The Clientele, The Rosebuds, and many other indie elite. They will be releasing his new album "Andorra" on August 21, 2007. Dan had this to say about the new album on his website: "I'm super-happy with the way the album has turned out. I've put seemingly endless hours into it over the last year or so getting everything exactly as I wanted it and have never been this madly excited about my music. I can't wait for you all to hear it and hope you'll like it too."
Merge will be releasing a CDEP of “Melody Day”, the first single from Andorra, on July 10th.
Caribou will go on tour in North America in October and November 2007.
