The Decemberists to play with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra!!
The Decemberists will be coming back to Atlanta for a THIRD time this year, this time they will be accompanied by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. I assume this will be similar to the other "symphonically enriched" shows that they are currently playing across the US (I also assume that it will be better than Metallica's symphonic foray...for real!). US successfully shuts out Canadian terrorists, Handsome Furs!! Hooray?
Freedom ain't free folks. If Canadian bands think they can just mosey on down here and take jobs away from decent hard working American musicians, then they're sadly mistaken.Yet another awesome non-American band has been locked out by our illustrious (and just plain mean) US government. Handsome Furs (Dan Boeckner from Wolf Parade & fiancée, Alexei Perry) have been forced to cancel their six US tour dates, by what I can only assume are VISA problems.
Maybe I should just move to Canada...they've got most of the amazing bands out right now, better health care, and apparently THEY DON'T DENY BANDS' VISAS!!
Some good news: Handsome Furs' Sub Pop debut, Plague Park is available today at all fine independent music retailers.
